Boston Fleet blanked Seattle Torrent 3-0 on Saturday at Tsongas Center in Lowell. The shutout was the fifth this season for goaltender Aerin Frankel, who stopped every Seattle chance to keep Boston locked in a first-place tie with Minnesota Frost at 42 points.
The Fleet have won 15 of their 21 games, the most wins in PWHL this season. Minnesota matches them on points but has one fewer victory at 14 wins, while Montréal Victoire sit third at 39 points with a game in hand on both clubs. The race for first stays tight with nine games left on each team's schedule.
Frankel continued to put up numbers that separate her from the rest of the league's goaltenders. Through 19 starts, she carries a .949 save percentage, a 1.29 goals-against average and a 14-3 record. Five shutouts in 19 games puts her on pace for one of the best goaltending seasons in PWHL history.
Megan Keller leads Boston's blue line with 16 points on six goals and 10 assists through 21 games. Alina Müller has posted 15 points in the same stretch. Susanna Tapani sits at 14 and Jessie Eldridge has added 13, giving the Fleet four players with double-digit points.
Seattle had no answer at Tsongas Center. The Torrent sit eighth and last in the standings at 19 points with a 6-13 record through 21 games. Alex Carpenter paces the club with 14 points in 21 games, but the team has lacked depth scoring for most of the season.
Goaltending remains a challenge for Seattle. Corinne Schroeder carries a .902 save percentage and a 2.79 GAA in 11 starts this season. Hannah Murphy holds a .911 save percentage in 10 appearances, and neither has posted a shutout.
Boston returns to action Tuesday when the Fleet host Vancouver Goldeneyes at Tsongas Center. Seattle is off until March 29, when the Torrent host Ottawa Charge at Climate Pledge Arena.
