LAVAL, QC — Laura Stacey scored twice to lead Montréal Victoire past Seattle Torrent 4-1 on Wednesday night at Place Bell.

The Victoire controlled play from the opening faceoff and never looked in danger. Stacey opened the scoring and then added her second to put the game out of reach. Two other Montréal skaters also found the net in a balanced offensive showing.

Stacey's two-goal performance extends a productive season for the forward. She has 15 points across 20 games for a Victoire club sitting second in PWHL standings with 39 points.

Alex Carpenter provided Seattle's only response, beating the Montréal netminder to make it 4-1 and avoid the shutout. The veteran forward has 14 points through 20 games this season, leading a Torrent offense that has struggled to find consistency.

The loss drops Seattle to 6-12 with 19 points, last in the eight-team league. The Torrent sit 20 points behind the top of the table, where Minnesota Frost and Montréal share the summit with Boston Fleet at 39 points apiece.

That three-way tie at the top has defined Season 3. Minnesota holds a 13-4 record through 20 games. Montréal is 14-5 and Boston 14-4. Below them, Toronto sits fourth at 31 points, with Ottawa (28), New York (27), and Vancouver (24) filling the middle. Seattle, at 19, has won just six games all year.

Wednesday's result was another reminder of how difficult Place Bell has been for visiting teams. The Victoire limited Seattle to scattered chances after the opening period and were never threatened.

The Torrent travel to Lowell to face Boston Fleet on Saturday at Tsongas Center. Montréal heads to Canada Life Centre in Winnipeg on Sunday to take on Ottawa Charge.
