New York Sirens announced three roster moves on Wednesday as the club looks to reposition itself for the final stretch of PWHL Season 3.

The moves come at a critical juncture for a Sirens team sitting sixth in the standings with 27 points through 20 games. New York is 8-9 on the season with 10 games still to play. The math is straightforward: the Sirens need to pick up their pace to stay in playoff contention, and these roster adjustments suggest the front office agrees.

Sarah Fillier has been carrying much of the offensive load for New York this season, posting 3 goals and 11 assists for 14 points in 19 games. Casey O'Brien has matched that total with 5 goals and 9 assists, also in 19 games. Behind them, Jaime Bourbonnais (5 goals, 8 assists, 13 points in 24 games) and Kristýna Kaltounková (11 goals, 1 assist, 12 points in 20 games) have provided secondary scoring, but the Sirens need more depth production to climb the table.

The gap between New York and fourth-place Toronto Sceptres is four points. That's manageable, but the Sirens also need to hold off Vancouver Goldeneyes (21 points, 19 games) and Seattle Torrent (19 points, 19 games) below them. Three roster changes at once signals urgency from a front office that isn't content to ride out the final weeks without making adjustments.

The expectation is that these moves are aimed at improving lineup flexibility and adding fresh legs for a schedule that gets tighter from here. With a salary cap of $1.3M per team in Season 3, the Sirens don't have the luxury of simply stockpiling talent. Every roster spot has to earn its place.

Whether this shakeup is enough to push New York into the top four will depend on what Fillier and company can produce with the reinforcements around them. The Sirens have the individual talent to compete. The question is whether the group can find the right combinations before the regular season ends.
