Minnesota Frost got goals from four different skaters and a stellar performance from Maddie Rooney to beat Seattle Torrent 4-1 on Thursday night at Grand Casino Arena.
Rooney turned aside 28 of 29 shots for a .966 save percentage, keeping the Torrent off the board at even strength. Seattle's lone goal came on the power play from Lexie Adzija, assisted by Danielle Serdachny and Anna Wilgren.
Abby Hustler opened the scoring with what would hold up as the game-winning goal. Taylor Heise added to the lead, extending a productive stretch for the Frost's top forward. Klára Hymlárová and Peyton Anderson also found the net as Minnesota spread the offense across its lineup.
The Frost peppered Corinne Schroeder with 30 shots. Schroeder stopped 27 of them but had little help in front of her as Seattle managed just one power-play conversion on the night.
Minnesota's depth was the story. Six different players recorded assists, with Britta Curl-Salemme, Kelly Pannek, Grace Zumwinkle, Kendall Cooper, Claire Butorac, and Élizabeth Giguère each picking up a helper. Lee Stecklein led all skaters with 25:56 of ice time and fired four shots from the blue line.
The win keeps the Frost firmly in third place in the standings with 33 points through 18 games, trailing Boston and Montréal at the top. Seattle remains in eighth at 19 points.
The Torrent have now dropped to 6-10 on the season. Seattle managed 29 shots but struggled to generate sustained pressure at even strength against a structured Minnesota defense.
Minnesota returns to action at Grand Casino Arena, where they continue to be one of the toughest home teams in the league. Seattle heads back to Climate Pledge Arena looking to right the ship in the second half of the schedule.
