Taylor Heise scored in overtime Saturday night to give Minnesota Frost a 3-2 road victory over Toronto Sceptres at Coca-Cola Coliseum.
The win was the Frost's 10th of the season in 17 games. Minnesota sits third in PWHL standings with 30 points, five back of first-place Boston Fleet and level with second-place Montréal Victoire on points.
Heise, who leads the Frost with 19 points through 17 games this season, found the back of the net in the extra frame to cap a hard-fought contest. The forward has recorded four goals and 15 assists in Season 3 and continues to serve as Minnesota's primary offensive engine.
Toronto held leads twice during regulation. Each time, the Frost answered. Minnesota's resilience on the road proved the difference in a game that could have gone either way through 60 minutes.
The Sceptres picked up a point under PWHL's 3-2-1-0 system but remain in sixth place with 25 points through 20 games. At 7-8, Toronto sits five points below the playoff line and will need a strong push over the final stretch of the regular season.
For the Frost, the overtime victory underscores their ability to win close games. Minnesota has built a reputation this season as a team that competes until the final whistle. Ten wins in 17 outings puts them squarely in the Walter Cup conversation.
The Sceptres will look to rebound at home, while the Frost return to Grand Casino Arena in Hinckley for their next game.
